The Alliance Française (founded in 1883) is a global organization under the French Ministry of Culture. Its objective is to promote and disseminate French language and culture. In 1883, Paul Camcon founded the Alliance Française in Paris, and scholars, writers, and diplomats joined as members, including Ferdinand de Lesseps, Louis Pasteur, and Jules Verne. The goal then was, as it still is now, to spread French language and culture. Friends of France established chapters around the world based on this idea.

Alliance Française Suriname offers language courses at different levels (from beginners to advanced) and for various target groups: group lessons, conversation meetings, private lessons, as well as "à la carte", for example, for companies.
In addition to French language education, Alliance Française Suriname offers numerous cultural activities including lectures on film, history, chansons, theater, travel in France, art, etc.
